Lorraine Young BSc FCIS has over 20 years' experience as a company secretary. She set up her own business in 2003. She provides individually tailored corporate services for a variety of clients, according to their particular needs at any time. This includes advising on company law, corporate governance and best practice as well as servicing meetings and ensuring statutory compliance.

Lorraine's previous roles include Company Secretary of Brambles Industries plc; Head of the Group Secretary's Department at Standard Chartered PLC; Deputy Secretary at NatWest Markets and Assistant Secretary at Kleinwort Benson Group plc. In these roles Lorraine has achieved many things, having been involved in acquisitions and disposals, bid defence, overseas board visits, directors' induction and continuing professional development, complex international share plans, promoting clear communication to shareholders and employees as well as the usual range of responsibilities associated with the role.

Born in 1962, Lorraine graduated from Leeds University in 1983, gaining a BSc (Hons) 2(i) in Chemical Sciences. She qualified as a chartered secretary in 1990 and was elected to Fellowship in 1996. Lorraine is a Policy Adviser to ICSA and a member of their Company Secretaries Forum. She writes for various professional publications, including ICSA's Chartered Secretary magazine and CCH's Boardroom Briefing.
